What are Alfajores?
There are many ways you can describe Alfajores. A cooke sandwich, a gourmet biscuit or even, a "mini cake".
They're very rich in texture, yet smooth and creamy - due to the generous amount of dulce de leche we add.
Dulce de leche is a milk based caramel which gives it a thicker, much creamier taste than traditional water based caramel's.
It's the combination of rich hand dipped chocolate, crumbly cookie and creamy dulce de leche which make Alfajores so incredibly delicious.
We promise, once you try a Besobite, you'll be hooked for life!
- The Origin of Alfajores -
The traditional South American Alfajor (plural - Alfajores) is a cookie sandwich consisting of two outer cookies filled with dulce de leche, a luscious creamy milk caramel. Enjoyed with coffee, tea, or as a sweet snack with friends, the Alfajor is THE ultimate melt-in-your-mouth dessert experience.
The history of the Alfajor stretches far back to the Moors occupation of Spain. After their introduction to the Spainards the recipe changed and spread to South America during the Spanish exploration. The modern Alfajor was born in the 19th century in Argentina and quickly spread across the continent. Today Alfajores are enjoyed all over Latin America, Europe and now Australia!
Maria Marta, founder of BesoBite Alfajores decided to capture the rich history and authentic taste of the Alfajor and spread them to yet another continent. This time there is no conquest, just a dream and 100% pure love!
(PS. We proudly make our Alfajores in Australia using Australian ingredients).

What does 'Besobite' mean?
Put simply, it's a combination of 'BESO', meaning kiss in Spanish - and BITE.
It's not only a play on words, but the sensation you get when when you bite deep into an Alfajor: "A Kiss Bite"
